Emmanuel Geny

Chief of Party

Emmanuel Geny is the Chief of Party for Democracy International in Tunisia. He has more than fifteen years of professional experience in election observation, democracy promotion, and human rights advocacy. Prior to Tunisia, he was an Observer Coordinator for three Egyptian elections with DI, an Observer Coordinator with the International Republican Institute, and observed elections on behalf of the European Union, as well as with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, working primarily in Africa. In addition to his work as an Observer Coordinator, Mr. Geny has previously worked with DI in Tunisia as the Chief of Party for the Middle East and North Africa Innovation in Election Monitoring Project to develop, test, and support the adoption of new approaches to regional domestic election monitoring. Before his electoral work, Mr. Geny worked with Reporters Without Borders in Paris, France, supporting the organization’s press freedom and human rights initiatives.

Mr. Geny holds an M.A. in Political Sciences and International Relations from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain and an M.A. in Modern History, International Relations, and Political Sciences from Université Montaigne and Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Bordeaux, France. Mr. Geny is fluent in French and English and proficient in Spanish.
