Project Description

In 2012 Democracy International conducted an impact evaluation of select components of a U.S. Government-funded electoral and political processes programs in Russia, including programs related to Russia’s parliamentary and presidential elections in December 2011 and March 2012, respectively. The evaluation featured a quasi-experimental design and utilized mixed methods to complement its full performance scope. The experiment was part of DI’s broader effort to improve the evaluation of democracy and governance programs for the U.S. Government. DI wrote a comprehensive report to present findings and recommendations for future electoral and political processes-related programming to USAID, the U.S. Department of State, and other implementing partners, with a discussion on how best to conduct monitoring and evaluation activities of election-related programming.
